NWS Miami FL issued a Coastal Flood Statement at 8:26 AM EDT Wednesday, October 7, for Coastal Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade county zones. The statement runs through 10:00 AM EDT Thursday, October 8. Isolated minor coastal flooding is expected during high tide cycles Wednesday evening and overnight Thursday morning. Low-lying coastal roads and properties near tidal waterways in these counties may see minor water intrusion at peak tide.
For shore and inshore anglers along the Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami coastal areas, the practical effect is on access: low-lying ramp approaches, causeway shoulders, and waterfront parking can take water during the evening and overnight high tide windows. October brings permit on the oceanside flats from Palm Beach south to Biscayne Bay and snook working the inlets and nearshore cuts during the fall transition. Minor flooding during tidal highs can affect ramp access and some inlet margins without preventing fishing on a broad basis.
NWS Miami also issued a Marine Weather Statement at 4:22 PM EDT Wednesday for coastal and offshore waters from Jupiter Inlet to Deerfield Beach FL, flagging a strong thunderstorm moving east off Palm Beach with winds near 30 knots and locally higher seas; that statement expired at 5:15 PM EDT. The Coastal Flood Statement through Thursday morning is the sustained active product for SE Florida coastal zones. Current NWS Miami products, including any re-issuances, are at weather.gov/mfl.
